    The Legacy Journey

    The Legacy Journey
    By Dave Ramsey
    Ramsey Press
    Retail Price $22.99
    Amazon Price: $16.55

    Book Description:

Dave Ramsey shares Biblical wisdom on the legacy we build with our wealth. What does the Bible really say about money? About wealth? How much does God expect you to give to others? How does wealth affect your friendships, marriage, and children? How much is “enough”?

There’s a lot of bad information in our culture today about wealth—and the wealthy. Worse, there’s a growing backlash in America against our most successful neighbors, but why? To many, wealth is seen as the natural result of hard work and wise money management. To others, wealth is viewed as the ultimate, inexcusable sin. This has left a lot of godly men and women honestly confused about what to do with the resources God’s put in their hands. God’s ways of handling money caused them to build wealth, but then they’re left feeling guilty about it. Is this what God had in mind?

In The Legacy JourneyNew York Times bestselling author Dave Ramsey takes you deep into God’s Word, revealing His perspective on wealth, your personal and family legacy, and how He wants to use you to further His kingdom work around the world. You can truly live—and leave—a legacy. The journey starts today.

    Review

Honestly, I am not a huge Dave Ramsey fan.  I find him very abrasive.  But I have to admit that his teachings about money and debt are spot on and that his life reflects his teachings.  With that said, I found this book to be very intriguing because he does an in depth study of wealth and the responsibilities that come along with it.  While the content isn’t exactly new, it is fresh as He teaches you to spend less than you earn and build wealth so that you can use to you to be his hands and feet in this world.  It was an excellent read.

      Book Description:

When you choose to live a generous life, you start to change and so does the world around you. Something incredible happens when giving becomes your own idea, not something you do out of duty or obligation.

When you move from awareness to action, miracles happen. As you make giving a lifestyle, you’ll realize you’re not only loving life more, you’re also creating a more generous world— a better world for all of us.

Rich with inspiring stories and practical suggestions, I Like Giving helps you create a lifestyle of generosity. Inside you’ll find:

      • How to raise kids with a sensitivity to others’ needs.
      • You don’t have to be a millionaire to make a difference.
      • Practical ideas for giving to people around you every day.

I Like Giving is about experiencing the joy of giving. We all have something to give. Giving goes way beyond money or things. It can be a listening ear, a touch, or simply the gift of time. Giving is living.

      Review

I would characterize myself as a giver.  I tend to look out for others and it gives me great joy to give to others.  I’ve raised my kids to have the same love of giving with varying success.  Some “took” to it more that others, which leads me to believe that temperament has something to do with it.  So when I saw this book, I just had to read it.  I love how the author uses so many different stories to convey the message of generosity for people of all ages. I also appreciate that some of the stories don’t require spending a single dollar; they just encourage you to pay attention and to act. I have shared many of the ideas in my own family, who are now adults themselves and with my grandkids. This book is a quick and easy read and will change your attitude towards living a generous life and it is inspirational.
